Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart premiered on Sunday, May 10, and the special instantly sparked conversation online for its brutal celebrity digs and deeply personal jabs. From comics roasting Kevin Hart to stars taking shots at one another, the night delivered exactly the kind of chaos viewers expect from a modern roast event.

But as savage as the final version was, several punchlines never made it to air. Some jokes were reportedly cut before the live special wrapped, while others simply were not picked up by any of the celebrity roasters. Now, fans are finally getting a glimpse at the lines that stayed on the writers’ room floor, and some of them are even harsher than what Netflix audiences actually heard.

With viewers already debating which jokes went too far, the newly revealed material offers an even deeper look into how wild the roast could have been.

Unused roast jokes ranged from celebrity digs to brutal Kevin Hart punchlines

Comedy writer Madison Sinclair, who worked on crafting material for several participants during The Roast of Kevin Hart, shared with Variety some of the jokes that never made the final cut of the special. Several of the unused lines targeted comedian Shane Gillis.

One joke read, “Shane Gillis only lasted two weeks in basic training. The closest he’s come to becoming a veteran is his views on Asians.”

Another unused punchline stated, “Shane turned down during the Riyadh Comedy Festival because he has integrity… and he can’t go 48 hours without a drink.”

Tony Hinchcliffe was also the subject of multiple unreleased burns. One joke joked, “Tony has the license plate iRoast, which is what we all hope for every time he gets behind the wheel.”

Another line compared him to Melania Trump, saying, “Tony is like Melania: The only thing relevant about him is that he opened for Trump once.”

Draymond Green was another celebrity who found himself in the writers’ crosshairs. One unreleased joke said, “Draymond Green is a lot like Megan Thee Stallion: They’re famous for letting other people shoot and he hasn’t been the same since Klay Thompson left.”

Another added, “Draymond is so cute, he has that thing where his mouth is always a little open. That’s one of the things he and Chelsea have in common.”

Lizzo also had one joke that reportedly never made the stage. The line read, “Lizzo broke barriers when she danced as a stripper in ‘Hustlers,’ mostly because they weren’t properly enforced.”

Chelsea Handler was targeted as well with the joke, “You might know Chelsea from being on E! for over a decade… she also had a famous talk show for a while.”

Kevin Hart himself ended up being the biggest target among the unreleased material. One joke stated, “Kevin is one of the few comedians without a single allegation. When he found out about the MeToo movement he was shocked. He was like, people are saying no to things?!”

Another unreleased line joked, “Did you know that Kevin actually has a nonprofit for organ donation called ‘Heartless?’ That’s not true. But doesn’t that sound like some dumb s*** he would do?”

One punchline mocked Hart’s business ventures, saying, “If Kevin can make a pun with the word ‘heart’ in it, he will spend millions to develop a sh**** business around it.”

Another seasonal jab read, “Kevin, thank you so much for being here tonight. I know you have such a busy schedule with stand-up… movies… sitting on that shelf every Christmas.”

The unused material also included: “Kevin, I was so disappointed when you did the Riyadh Comedy Festival because on a human-rights level no one should be forced to listen to your comedy sober.”

Another line targeted his cheating scandals, saying, “Kevin, you are so talented but you are the worst cheater. With your build, I assumed you’d be better at sneaking around.”

One of the more ruthless jokes read, “Kevin Hart is such a sell-out even his s** tape had commercial breaks.”

Another joke took aim at his streaming history: “Kevin Hart is always on the worst platforms: Quibi, Tubi, the ones he puts on when he argues with his wife.”

The writers even referenced an old controversy with the line, “Kevin said he was only joking when he said he would throw a doll house at a gay child. But we invited Tony [Hinchcliffe] here tonight just to make sure.”

One final unreleased jab added, “Kevin, why were you hooking up with women in cars? If you wanted to cheat and get away with it, you should have gone somewhere desolate, a no man’s land, somewhere no one would ever go by any means necessary… like Hart House on La Brea.”
