Netflix has built an impressive lineup of Spanish-language thrillers that thrive on shocking twists, impossible mysteries, and relentless suspense. One week, audiences are untangling the hotel-room murder puzzle of The Invisible Guest; the next, they are tracking a vanished corpse in The Body. Add the time-bending chaos of Mirage and the global heist sensation Money Heist, and the platform becomes a treasure chest of pulse-racing stories.

Now Netflix is adding another intriguing entry to that collection with The Marked Woman, a mystery poised to deepen the streamer’s Spanish thriller roster.

Netflix is set to launch The Marked Woman worldwide on Friday, June 5, making it available simultaneously in more than 190 countries. The Spanish-language thriller arrives with an ambitious international rollout, offering viewers the original audio track alongside English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubbed versions. Anticipation has steadily grown since teaser images debuted in April, with the intense official trailer amplifying interest in late May.

Behind the scenes, the project traveled an intriguing path from page to screen. Adapted by Lara Sendim from La desconocida, the acclaimed crime novel by Rosa Montero and Olivier Truc, the film eventually found its director in Gabriel Ibáñez Rodrigo after an early development shift. Production began in May 2025, with industrial zones and coastal locations in Algeciras helping bring the story's atmospheric world to life under the banner of K&S Films.

Of course, a release date and an impressive production pedigree only tell part of the story; the real mystery begins with the film's unsettling premise.

What is The Marked Woman about?

The mystery begins with a discovery that feels ripped from a nightmare. At the Port of Barcelona, a night watchman's German shepherd becomes fixated on a shipping container, leading authorities to uncover a young woman inside, bound, injured, and barely alive. Although she survives, the ordeal leaves her with devastating amnesia, erasing her identity, history, and any clue as to why she was targeted.

The situation grows even more alarming when an assassin infiltrates Hospital Clínic to silence her before her memories can return. Detective Anna Ripoll, Officer Quique Zárate, and a French intelligence agent soon uncover links to a sprawling international trafficking operation, with the unidentified survivor emerging as the investigation's most valuable piece. Just as compelling as the mystery itself, however, is the ensemble tasked with bringing these high-stakes characters to life.

Meet the cast of The Marked Woman

The film's tension is strengthened by a cast built around complex, emotionally layered characters. Ana Rujas takes center stage as the unidentified survivor, navigating fragmented memories and violent flashbacks as pieces of her past begin resurfacing. Candela Peña anchors the investigation as the perceptive Detective Anna Ripoll, while Pol López brings determination and urgency to Officer Quique Zárate, Ripoll's trusted partner in the increasingly dangerous case.

The supporting ensemble adds further intrigue to the mystery. Manolo Solo portrays a figure connected to the victim's hidden history, while Luka Peros steps into a position of authority with ties to the wider investigation. Kira Miró rounds out the lineup with a pivotal role linked to the emotional currents surrounding the case. Between its acclaimed source material, international conspiracy, and compelling cast, and upcoming Netflix June picks, The Marked Woman looks poised to become another standout addition to Netflix's growing collection of Spanish-language thrillers.
