Although another season appears unlikely, the first installment tells a compelling story that blends supernatural horror with political conspiracies, which makes it a must-watch. 

The East Palace tells the story of a talented investigator for the royal court named Gu-cheon and a lady-in-waiting who happens to have the gift of communicating with the dead named Saeng-gang. However, as a series of deaths and paranormal activities start to happen in the royal court, they team up to investigate what is going on. They find danger and politics within the realm of the dead, and uncover secrets that threaten the kingdom and the royal family. 

Meanwhile, Netflix seemingly has not left the door open for another season. The East Palace was built with a complete story from beginning to end. With the main mystery solved, the darkest secrets of the royal family out in the open, and the supernatural conflict concluded satisfactorily, there is little room for a direct continuation of the series. Unless the creators want to tell a new story in the same universe, The East Palace will likely be a one-off limited series.
