The Witcher's very own Graham McTavish has set apart the lines of The Witcher and House of the Dragon. Here is what he has to say.

The Dichotomy of Thrones: Graham McTavish Reflects on the Unique Allure of ‘The Witcher’ and ‘House of the Dragon’

As The Witcher [https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/the-witcher/] season 3 is gracing
the screens of Netflix, the allure of this fantastical saga shows no signs of
waning. Continually drawing comparisons with other fantasy shows, The Witcher
continues to captivate audiences. While Henry Cavill
[https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/henry-cavill/] bids farewell to the enchanting
world of The Witcher, one character remains steadfast. Sigismund Dijkstra,
portrayed by Graham McTavish, has elevated his game in the current season.
However, amidst his dedication to the show, Dijkstra’s allegiance also lies with
the House of the Dragon.

His remarkable ability helps him to draw captivating comparisons between the
kingdoms of the fantasy genre. The actor effortlessly distinguishes the unique
qualities that set them apart, adding a touch of intrigue and excitement.

THE WITCHER ALONG THE LINES OF HOUSE OF THE DRAGON

Graham McTavish has emerged as a true luminary in the realm of fantasy. In House
of the Dragon, McTavish embodies the grounded character of Ser Harrold
Westerling. He emanates strength and stability. Meanwhile, as Dijkstra, he
embraces a more endearing role, infusing the character with charisma and charm.
As McTavish reflects upon his varied roles in an interview with GamesRadar+
[https://www.gamesradar.com/the-witcher-season-3-preview-jaskier-new-characters-netflix/],
he astutely acknowledges that The Witcher provides a unique platform for him to
explore the lighter side of his craft.

McTavish unveils a fascinating paradox. While his character may exude a certain
brutality, the show adeptly strikes a delicate balance by infusing it with
profoundly humane moments. This intricate dynamic shines through, particularly
in Dijkstra’s relationship with Phillipa. He further discloses that the upcoming
season holds the promise of unveiling even more facets of Dijkstra’s persona,
gradually revealing his innate considerate nature.

The character of Dijkstra is not aptly reproduced from the books. Along the
lines of not staying true to the books

McTavish unravels how different it is from the original creation.

WHAT SEPARATES DIJKSTRA OF THE WITCHER FROM THE BOOKS

Andrzej Sapkowski envisioned the character of Dijkstra in the series as a
quintessential spy. Traditionally, spies are portrayed as cunning and lurking in
the shadows. However, the towering presence of McTavish presented a unique
challenge. Rather than concealing his striking stature, McTavish artfully adapts
his portrayal by embracing flamboyant attire.

McTavish intriguingly unveils the complex dynamics between Dijkstra and Geralt
of Rivia. Their connection can be described as a professional dance, where trust
and mistrust intertwine. Fate holds the power to destroy the path, presenting
opportunities for both loyalty to Dijkstra and a treacherous betrayal that could
ultimately seal his demise. As the story unfolds in the forthcoming seasons, the
fate of Dijkstra hangs in the balance.
