Netflix has not made any official announcements regarding the cast of The Body. However, the cast will soon be revealed, as per the streaming giant's official website. Creator and showrunner Quinn Shephard will be directing the first episode alongside a few additional episodes. Shephard is joined by Amy Israel, Riley Keogh, and more as the executive producers for the series. Previously, Keogh and Shephard have together delivered the true crime masterpiece, Under the Bridge. Fans can already expect a promising start to the production of their upcoming collaboration.
Discussing the premise of the series, Shephard shared with Netflix, "This story is definitely my way of putting a playful spin on all the nightmares of my own teenage-dom." Since the plot revolves around women, as dominantly observed in Shephard's notable works, the female-led production crew adds to the narrative significance of the series.
Although the cast remains unconfirmed, be prepared for a spine-chilling journey. If high school keeps you up at night, just wait until the rituals start.
The Body plot: Catholic rites turn into mass frenzy
The Body tracks the ominous journey of a high school dance team during their initiation ceremony in an orthodox Catholic town, when things go horribly wrong. What starts as a coming-of-age rite quickly descends into a collective psychosis, causing hysteria. Is it mass delusion, or something much more evil?
Quinn Shephard cooks this teen psychodrama with a heaping spoonful of religious horror to deliver a creepy narrative on girlhood and communal belief. It is definitely not for the faint of heart.
As the series goes into the writing process, fans of horror can expect to watch the series very soon. Meanwhile, Netflix's expanding collection of terrific thrillers can keep viewers well-fed till then.
The Body release date: Mark your calendars, clear your watchlist
