A classic superhero that has raised generations of fans gets a reboot in this 2012 adventure of the iconic teen Peter Parker meeting his super-powered fate. The Amazing Spider-Man features Andrew Garfield as the famous web-slinger and Emma Stone as his high-school love, Gwen Stacy.
The story follows Spider-Man as he acquires spider-like abilities, deals with the loss of his parents, and fights a villain whose aim is to bring forth chaos in New York City.
Licensed by Netflix on September 1st, 2025, this movie serves as both an adolescent superhero story and a portal into the larger Marvel-related universe.
2. Venom: The Last Dance
Venom: The Last Dance presents another classic comic-book superhero's tale in dark mode, bringing the anti-hero's lore into a grand display of wickedly triumphant end. Featuring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, alongside Rhys Ifans, Stephen Graham, and more, this film completes the Venom trilogy.
Expect a twisted ride into the world where there are no caped heroes in sight. Eddie and Venom's symbiosis takes a darker, morally unclear turn as they each face threats of an insurmountable kind.
3. The Umbrella Academy
Super-powered adoptive siblings with unique and oddly specific superpowers time-travel in this roller-coaster of chaos and love in every episode. The death of their father brings the siblings together, but they find that there is an apocalypse coming that only they can avert.
Based on My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way and artist Gabriel Bá's comics, this series is not a typical superhero saga. Each superhero in question will leave viewers amused with their idiosyncratic nature and intriguing storylines.
4. The Old Guard
Immortality meets the modern world's conflicts in Netflix's The Old Guard. Starring Charlize Theron as Andy, the main character, who is the head of a secret mercenary group made up of warriors that have been alive for centuries, legends battle ethical dilemmas.
This Netflix original superhero movie met with tremendous success for its wild action, unique plot, and gritty reflection on mortality, loyalty, and love. A follow-up to this tale, The Old Guard 2, premiered in July 2025; however, it met with lukewarm response compared to the original, nonetheless making it a stunning watch.
5. Supacell
Supacell is set in South London and tells the story of five people who, through a family link of sickle-cell disease, suddenly get superpowers. It arrived on Netflix on June 27, 2024. While they are trying to adapt to their new gifts, the society and the oppressing forces begin to close in on them.
The series flaunts a perfect 100% approval score on Rotten Tomatoes with its roots set deep in society, hip-hop, and emotions. Give it a binge before Supacell Season 2 arrives.
6. My Hero Academia
My Hero Academia is already a cult-favorite among shōnen anime fans and needs no introduction. This epic is bursting with Quirks, dreams, ambition, high-stakes training, friendships, villainy, and heroic ideals along the way.
Powerful animation, emotional development, and classic hero vs villain suspense make this anime a must-watch. Netflix has also declared that its live-action adaptation would start filming in 2026, per What's on Netflix.
7. Code 8
Having superhuman abilities does not mean an escape from the harsh bites of reality in Code 8. In this unique movie, praised for its world-building, a young man with electric powers turns to crime in order to finance his sick mother’s hospital bills.
In this superhero fiction, social realism, crime drama, and moral complexity take center stage to provide a raw, grounded narrative with electricity, conflict, and plenty of strong characters.
8. Warrior Nun
Mixing supernatural mystery with a bit of superhero sensation, the series Warrior Nun is about an unfortunate girl selected by an old order for the fight against demons. While she works out her powers, she has to deal with the faith, obligation, and fate.
This occult detective superhero drama stars Alba Baptista, Toya Turner, Lorena Andrea, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Tristán Ulloa, and more. Praised for its intense acting performances and excellent fight choreography, the show has two seasons, making it a satisfying superhero binge.
9. Supergirl
Luminous, optimistic, and timeless, Supergirl tells the story of Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), the cousin of Superman, who accepts her powers and, at the same time, tries to lead a normal life on Earth. For six seasons in total, she gets to fight overpowering villains and save people.
With the upcoming Supergirl movie eyeing to break new records in James Gunn's DC Universe, this series would be a perfect warm-up for those new to the chaotic lore of the other Kryptonian.
10. I Am Not Okay With This
This queer coming-of-age black comedy series focuses on teenage drama and the discovery of superpowers. The plot centers around 17-year-old Sydney Novak (Sophia Lillis), an emotionally disturbed high schooler who suddenly develops telekinetic powers.
