The Stranger Things saga might have ended, but the tale of Hawkins does not seem to be ending anytime soon. The beloved show that aired its finale on December 31, 2025, had already announced a full-fledged animated series called Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 before the original series even concluded. But new information has come to light recently and has proved to be more cinematic than ever.

The animated series, which was scheduled for a Netflix release in 2026, is now going to open in select theaters for fans across the US.

Netflix has just announced that it will be releasing the first two episodes of the upcoming animated series Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 in limited theaters in the US before its worldwide premiere on the streamer on April 23. In collaboration with AMC Theatres, 34 locations around the United States will host the screenings on April 18 at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM local time.

Additionally, Netflix House Philadelphia and the Paris Theater in New York will also host screenings. The tickets for the same are supposed to go on sale on Wednesday, March 18, at 8 AM PT. To make things more interesting and premium, attendees will receive a limited-edition collectable only in the United States.

The upcoming animated series seems to have a lot riding on it, and while the popularity of the original show will come in handy, the heavy lifting still will largely be left to the plot of the animated show.  

Stranger Things: Tales From '85 welcomes the fans back to Hawkins. The timeline now is the winter of 1985, and the town seems to be engulfed in snow. It seems like the horrors of the Upside Down are finally drawing to a close, and everyone seems to be slowly returning to their usual ways.

The heroes of the town - Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max - have returned to their typical lives of D&D, snowball battles, and peaceful days. But something seems off, something horrible seems to be clawing its way through the ice. It might be a remnant of the Upside Down, or from the Hawkins lab, or it might be something else entirely.

In this brand-new tale set in Stranger Things' ever-expanding universe, our heroes must figure something out quickly to unravel the mystery and save Hawkins once again. The story takes the audience on another thrilling ride of mystique, friendship, and heroism. With the theatrical release on the horizon, the verdict about the story will be out sooner than expected.
