‘Stranger Things’ Star Maya Hawke Doesn’t Want Robin to Get Involved in a Romantic Relationship Because of This Character
Stranger Things is no stranger to presenting new characters to the storyline every season. Just like they brought Maya Hawke in season 3 to play Robin Buckley. The young actress instantly became one of the most favorite characters in the show, winning fans over her boldness and audacity to be a queer character openly while her snacky behavior only added to the admiration viewers had for her.
In season 4, we saw her diving deeper into the supernatural mysteries of Hawkins and exploring her crush on fellow band member Vickie. Or one can say she is quite close to finally getting what she missed for a long time. However, it appears the portrayer does not have the same feelings about her romantic relationship and fears losing another character.

In the latest interview with Yahoo, Hawke expressed her uncertainty about the arc of romance in Robin’s life. She admitted that she has mixed feeling about it because she does like that Buckley is finally meeting someone. At the same time, she also values the characters whose existence is not defined by their love life. Since this brings out their other qualities just like fans got to witness her intelligence, wittiness, and bravery.
Another reason for her uncertainty is the bond her character has created with Steve Harrington over the two seasons. According to her, if she focuses solely on her romantic life, this might affect the true friendship she has with him. “Friendships have been carrying me through my life. I think they’re really important and they deserve their airtime,” she told Yahoo.
Thus, she thinks that this bond between these two deserves attention and exploration instead of teen love. Not to forget, fans have been wanting to see a spinoff of Robin and Steve that takes on new adventures every season. Besides this, she addressed the question of Will’s sexuality, who unlike her, failed to reveal himself to his friends.

In this whole conversation about the fifth and final season of the horror drama, she was also asked about Will’s sexuality. In her response, she skipped the question saying, “I don’t know what’s going to happen.” According to her, season 5 does not have time to put forward these things when characters are already facing the biggest problem of their lives.
Well, one could only find out these things when the show gets into production, which is halted because of the WGA strike. On May 7, Duffer Brothers announced that they won’t work further on it until the writers get their demands.
