The first of Stranger Things' upcoming projects is scheduled to arrive in 2026 under the title Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85. This animated series features the original protagonists, including Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Eleven, set between the second and third seasons. Although the original actors will not provide the voices, the Duffer brothers return to direct this vibrant return to Hawkins.

Netflix has promised that this animation will introduce several new monsters to the lore, including a formidable carnivorous plant. While the visual style changes, the core mystery remains rooted in the familiar supernatural atmosphere of the mid-eighties. It serves as a bridge for fans who want to see more of the group during their younger years.

Beyond the animation, a live-action spinoff is currently in development to address the mysterious stone seen in Vecna’s past. The Duffer brothers told Variety that while it answers loose threads, it explores a completely different and fresh mythology.

Investigative mysteries of Stranger Things on the printed page

Stranger Things: One Way or Another is a new mystery novel written by Caitlin Schneiderhan, a writer from the television series. This book reached the top of the Amazon science fiction, crime, and mystery category immediately after its December release.

The story follows Nancy and Robin Buckley as they investigate why classmates are acting strangely and residents are falling ill. Nancy is convinced that Vecna has claimed a new victim, leading her into a conspiracy larger than any newspaper assignment. It offers a deep dive into her skills as an amateur sleuth while she navigates the dangers of the Upside Down.

This novel joins a growing library of character-focused books, including stories about Eddie Munson, Terry Ives, and Chief Hopper. Young adult readers can also find prequels and side stories centered on Max in Runaway Max, Robin in Rebel Robin, and Dustin’s early high school experiences through The Dustin Experiment. These books provide a comprehensive look at the residents of Hawkins that the television screen cannot always capture.
