'Stranger Things' Sparks Yet Another Real-Life Romance, Making It the Show’s Third Couple
Relationships grow in shared spaces, through repetition, rhythm, and mutual focus. Film and television sets, where collaboration and vulnerability coexist, have always been quiet incubators for real-life love. Stranger Things may be a story about parallel worlds, but its most lasting impact might be how often fiction has crossed into reality.
The Netflix phenomenon has given fans something deeply human: relationships born from shared storytelling. The most well-known example remains are Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton, whose portrayals of Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers gradually mirrored real life. And now, that ripple has reached even further.

This week, Vogie Taiwan shared news that sent the fandom spiraling. The Japanese voice actors for Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers are reportedly a real-life couple. The actors Keisuke Kōmoto is the voice for Jonathan, and Mami Fujita lends her voice to Nancy, officially they are the Japanese 'Jancy'. The update quickly gained traction, with fans celebrating the idea that the same fictional pairing has now resulted in three real-world romances.
The original real-life Jancy story, which has sparked real -life romances, per Vogue Taiwan, began in 2016, when Stranger Things was still a risky debut rather than a global juggernaut.
On September 9, 2016, Charlie Heaton posted an Instagram photo from Spain, casually calling Natalia Dyer one of his "amigos.” Soon after, Dyer posted Heaton on her own feed for the first time, an understated but unmistakable confirmation. Since then, despite years of public scrutiny, the pair have kept their relationship largely private, choosing steadiness over spectacle.
But the Japanese couple are not the only ones brought together by Nancy and Jonathan.
Another couple born from the same coincidence
As if the actor-to-character parallel was not poetic enough, Stranger Things managed to repeat the miracle entirely off-camera. While audiences watched Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers grow closer on screen, their stunt doubles were quietly forming a bond behind the scenes. Jessica Morgan Hill and Trevor Jenkins, who worked as the photo and stunt doubles for Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers, met while filming Season 3 of the Netflix series.
Their relationship later became public through Instagram posts, culminating in their marriage in December 2021.

In a heartfelt wedding post, the bride captured the symmetry perfectly: “I walked into Stranger Things as Jessica Hill… and left as Jessica Jenkins.” One sci-fi series, designed to explore alternate realities, ended up creating two real-world love stories tied to the same characters.
For a series obsessed with alternate dimensions, Stranger Things keeps proving one truth - shared stories connect lives.
