‘Stranger Things’ Season 5: Fans Desire More of This One Forgotten Character in the Finale

In July 2016, Millie Bobby Brown first appeared as Eleven in the first season of Stranger Things, marking the start of a viewership-pulling narrative path for Netflix. Over the last nearly eight years, the show has found itself lodged prominently in the mainstream as its characters and lore form a major part of pop culture discussions. However, throughout four seasons, aside from its core cast, the show has run on the able shoulders of plentiful side characters, some of whom have played a massive role in moving the story ahead only to go forgotten or under-rated.

At a time when the fifth and final season of the horror fantasy has come excruciatingly close to a conclusion, fans have put forth their wishes to get one final glimpse of such characters. In a March 25 Reddit thread, one fan pitched the same question while asking to choose between and beyond characters like Officer Powell, Flo, Keith, Officer Callahan, and Mr. Clarke. Resoundingly, a whopping majority of viewers commented on the last option as their leading choice to get an expanded screen time in the finale.

Scott Clarke, aka Mr. Clarke, played by Randy Havens, stands as a recurring character in Stranger Things. Debuted in the first season, the science teacher at Hawkins Middle School is largely responsible for guiding and feeding the curiosity of the group in unraveling, demystifying, and eventually letting loose and confronting the secrets of the Upside Down while also sharing his observations with Chief Hopper, letting him doubt Hawkins Laboratory in the first place.

In their replies to the Reddit query, fans largely agreed that Mr. Clarke's appearance during the final season of Stranger Things will serve as a full-circle moment for his character. “He helped the kids start this adventure. I’d love to see him help them finish it,” one rightly summarized. Others also wanted the character to “experience the Upside Down” and realize “oh, that's why I had been asked all of these random questions”. Moreover, many also acknowledged him as a “genius character” and one with “great knowledge” that may aid in the mind-bending finale.

Producer Shawn Levy has already opened up on making the last season a cinematic spectacle. Moreover, with nine months still in the tow, the show can easily accommodate Mr. Clarke’s role if something along the lines has not already made its way in. Regardless, one unanimous agreement remained that no matter what, the character should not die. “NO DYING MR. CLARKE!!” Fans voiced even as they counted their chances.
