Before addressing the rumors with Variety, Ross Duffer had already debunked them on his Instagram stories, commenting "lol not even close to accurate" beneath the leaked episode lengths. Despite Season 4’s extended runtimes and a year-long shoot for Season 5, the supposed lengths were false. Episodes may still run long to resolve lingering mysteries and conclude character arcs, but the true durations will remain unknown until Netflix releases them.
