With the cast details sorted, the other big question is about the true story the movie is based on.

What is the true story behind Stolen Baby: The Murder of Heidi Broussard?

Shortly after giving birth to her daughter, Margot, 33-year-old Heidi Broussard vanished without a trace with her newborn child. Heidi's disappearance was later linked to her close friend Magen Fieramusca, who had purported to be pregnant at the same time as Heidi. According to the inquiry, Magen killed Heidi and kidnapped her newborn daughter with the intention of passing the child off as her own. Heidi's body was recovered from Magen's car's trunk.

After being accused of murder, Magen Fieramusca entered a guilty plea in February 2023 and was sentenced to 55 years in jail. Her right to appeal was waived as part of this plea agreement, providing some closure to the families impacted by this heinous murder. The story in itself sends a chill down the spine, but the reality of the world is far more gruesome, where incidents like these happen on a regular basis, and Netflix has a ton of true crime documentaries based on some of them.
