Yet another hit show, The Boroughs, has been axed by Netflix. The series made it into the streaming platform's Top 10 and even received an Emmy submission. But despite all that, it was canceled after Season 1. Much like the viewers, actor Denis O'Hare is also upset by the decision to cancel the show.

However, he has no intention of staying quiet about it. Taking to social media, the actor revealed his sweet revenge plan against the streaming platform.

Denis O'Hare took to Instagram to share a video where he spoke about The Boroughs. Addressing the show's fans, the actor expressed his disappointment over its cancellation and explained how well it had been received by the viewers. However, toward the end of the video, he urged viewers to vote for the show at the Emmys to make Netflix regret its decision, calling it his own "revenge" plan.

“Vote for ‘The Boroughs’ for Best Series and, you know, stick it to Netflix and let them know that they made a mistake, you know, because I think that would be sweet revenge. Anyway, I love the show, I miss it and, you know, whatever,” he said.

He urged fans to vote for him and the other cast members of the show as well. The star-studded cast also included Bill Pullman, Alfre Woodard, Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Clarke Peters, Seth Numrich, and Alice Kremelberg. Produced by the Duffer Brothers, The Boroughs debuted with 5.6 million viewers during its opening weekend and later reached 9.6 million viewers before dropping to 3.7 million.

Now, the cancellation is undoubtedly a disappointment for the creators as well, who had planned to continue the story beyond Season 1.

Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews wanted season 2 for The Boroughs

Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews previously spoke to Gold Derby about The Boroughs and its characters. They revealed that they had already mapped out Season 2. While they had not written complete scripts or detailed plotlines, they had planned the characters' arcs for the next season. However, the duo had also acknowledged the possibility that the show might not be renewed.

"It’s more a map of emotions rather than plot points, character arcs rather than scenes," Matthews said.

"We know how it ends, because we know how it all ties up," Addiss said. "But if we don’t get a second season, we feel like we left the characters in a really good place," he added.

They explained that they had structured the characters' stories to feel complete by the end of Season 1 in case the series was canceled. Clearly, both the creators and the cast gave their all to the first season, and the show's Emmy submission shows that effort. Whether it wins an Emmy and fulfills Denis O'Hare's lighthearted "revenge" plan remains to be seen.
