As it turns out, Stranger Things never left the thresholds of Netflix's platform, giving its biggest enthusiasts yet another chance to love the show. Steve Harrignton and Nancy Wheeler, too, seem to be included in the game of chances, receiving a second one, but in a new, animated lifetime. 

Stranger Things has made a balm of not just Hawkins' most peaceful time possible, but also of Steve and Nancy's incomplete romance. 

Netflix confirmed an animated spin-off to follow the debated Stranger Things finale. Titled Stranger Things: Tales From '85, the series is set between the happenings of Seasons 2 and 3 of the original show. This also happens to be the time when Nancy and Steve are at the height of their romance, as seen in the show, and now, the spin-off's trailer release on February 2, 2026. 

Steve, in fact, seems to be smitten as ever with Mike Wheeler's older sister, comically misnaming another girl as Nancy instead of "Natalie". While these remain somewhat close to the show, Steve's voice, which was Joe Keery's, is now replaced by Jeremy Jordan. Jordan also voices Lucifer Morningstar from Hazbin Hotel.

With Stranger Things, and Nancy and Steve starting somewhat anew, Netflix, Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer seem to be aiming for the same. 

Stranger Things aired its final episode on December 31, 2026. And while there had been some friction between the two powers, Netflix and Ross Duffer and Matter Duffer, they have established themselves as enough horror-masters to be assigned yet another show in the category.  

Set to be released on March 26, 2026, the Duffer Brothers have backed the making of Netflix's Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. Before departing for Paramount, the Duffer Brothers are also producing a show akin to Stranger Things, The Boroughs, for Netflix. 

The Duffer Brothers are nursing their last sparks with Netflix, as Steve and Nancy are propelled back in time to their own firsts. Come April 2026, Stranger Things: Tales From '85, in its attempt to retain Stranger Things' charm on the streamer, will bring back memories that were already difficult to bury.
