Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney previously joined the league as celebrities who own a sports team. The duo purchased Wrexham A.F.C. back in November of 2020. And ever since both Reynolds and McElhenney have left no stone unturned to take the club to the top level. We are no strangers to the fact that the Canadian is extremely passionate and focused on promoting Wrexham to the football league. However, after months of a flawless run, Wrexham’s dream of promotion seems uncertain now.

Wrexham Association football club has always been a prominent club in Wales. Before Reynolds and McElhenney took over, the club reaching the second league had been a distant dream. Ever since Reynolds took over the reins, his investments have helped the club significantly. Furthermore, the club had a flawless run since October as it did not lose a single league match. However, sadly the Red Dragons fell down to the second spot following Notts County’s 2-0 victory over Altrincham. While Wrexham has a two-game advantage over Notts County, the pressure on Wrexham has never been higher.

Wrexham have never been closer to achieving their dream of reaching the football league. However, if the Red Dragons finish second they will have to play a lottery format play offs to secure a promotion from the National League. As surprising as it sounds, Wrexham has only lost two games out of the 39 games they have played this season. While both Notts County and Wrexham have equal points as of late, the goal difference has given the former an edge. The Ryan Reynolds owned team have been in the National League since 2008.
However, since the Deadpool star along with McElhenney have become the owners, the duo have made some very impressive developments at the club. Not long ago, Wrexham also signed former goalkeeper Ben Foster who came out of his retirement to play. Interestingly, Wrexham had an impressive run last season before finishing second to Stockport. And it seems like the club is doing everything it can to avoid the same fate this year.
