Ruth Wilson rejoins Luther

Ruth Wilson, speaking exclusively to Collider, has confirmed her return as the brilliant and anarchic Alice Morgan in Netflix’s freshly announced Luther movie, after being excluded from the 2023 feature Luther: The Fallen Sun. The new film, currently in pre-production, brings her back alongside Idris Elba, restoring the core duo that helped define the BBC series’ global rise.

Wilson, speaking to the aforementioned publication, revealed that conversations about her comeback began a year ago. She added that she was not surprised at all about being tapped for the role, as she always thought, “If they were going to do another movie, they probably need to bring her [Alice] back.”

Ruth Wilson, further in her Collider interview, admitted that she was “a little bit” nervous about stepping back into Alice’s shoes, but suggested she was far more excited to see how the character had grown over the years. She even joked that she might still be playing Alice “at 80,” a playful nod to just how enduring and irresistible the anti-heroine remains. The actress, meanwhile, is currently starring in a book-to-screen adaptation for Apple TV.
