In 2025, Netflix appears to be relentless in its pursuit of delivering captivating content. The streaming giant has gifted viewers with hit series like Adolescence, Ransom Canyon, and Untamed, proving its commitment to keeping audiences engrossed. Among these triumphs, the hilarious and heartwarming comedy Running Point, from the creative mind of Mindy Kaling, has emerged as a fan favorite, and more importantly, a multi-season mogul. 

Having turned the tides with its first drop, Running Point and Netflix are to join hands once again for Season 2.

The much-anticipated second season of Running Point is officially in production, with cameras rolling in Los Angeles. The show's creators, Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen, were hard at work in the writers' room to craft the new season, and on August 15, Netflix confirmed that filming had begun. The news was shared with a selfie on Netflix's X account showing Kate Hudson, who was joined by fellow cast members Brenda Song, Justin Theroux, Scott MacArthur, Drew Tarver, and Fabrizio Guido. According to the Film & Television Industry Alliance, filming for the new season began on August 11 and is scheduled to wrap by November 2025.

With the three-month production schedule and the show's instant popularity, viewers might not have to wait a full year for new episodes. The series is predicted to premiere on Netflix in late spring or early summer 2026, with many anticipating a release as early as April or May. The swift production turnaround suggests that Netflix is keen to get the hit comedy back on screens as soon as possible, providing audiences with more of the witty humor and compelling characters they love, especially after Jay Ellis previously dropped a hopeful crumb of information.

Among the many assets that the show had were the cliffhangers that ensured Running Point has you locked by the knee, setting the stage for a dramatic second season.

The first season of Running Point concluded with a mix of professional and personal drama. Isla, despite her team's loss in the playoffs, earned a moral victory for reviving the Los Angeles Waves franchise. However, her brother, Cam, who was actively sabotaging her, returned and expressed his desire to reclaim his position as the Waves president. Adding to her troubles, Isla's personal life got complicated when she tried to win back Lev but ended up kissing Jay.

For the new season, one can expect to see Isla navigate these chaotic challenges. She must confront her professional nemesis, who is also her family, while sorting through a complicated love triangle.
