Some shows do not rely on big twists or dramatic moments to make an impact. Instead, they take a quieter approach, focusing on people, relationships, and the small decisions that slowly shape their lives. Netflix has leaned into these kinds of stories lately, and Ripple is one of them.

Notably, when a show like this ends, it tends to linger, leaving viewers thoughtful and hoping for more. As a result, questions about Ripple’s future are now abundant.

Netflix has not confirmed a second season of Ripple yet, so the show’s future remains uncertain. If the streamer does decide to move forward, moreover, viewers should not expect new episodes anytime soon. With writing, filming, and post-production all taking time, Ripple season 2 is unlikely to arrive before 2027.

Ripple, for those unversed, is set in New York and follows four strangers whose lives slowly connect in meaningful ways. Walter, played by Frankie Faison, is coping with life after losing his wife. Nate (Ian Harding) runs a bar while dealing with a cancer diagnosis. Kris (Julia Chan) is trying to rebuild after losing her music career, and Aria (Sydney Agudong) is chasing her dreams while facing heartbreak and fertility issues.

The season finale provides resolutions for the characters and hints at new beginnings for them, setting a sturdy stage for season 2 if it happens. The creator of the show absolutely wants that.

In an interview not long ago, Michele Giannusa, the force behind Ripple, revealed that she had multiple seasons planned when production began on the show.

Creator’s plans for Ripple

Speaking to What’s on Netflix in December 2025, Michele Giannusa made it clear that she has big plans for the series. She shared that the story was always meant to run for five seasons, and she already knows how it will end, right down to the final shot.

Giannusa said there are many more stories she is eager to tell, with pages of notes and ideas ready. With strong input from the writers’ room, she hopes Netflix allows the journey to continue.

For now, Ripple sits in that in-between space where nothing is decided yet. The story has paused, but it does not feel like a true goodbye, which is why it is still on viewers’ minds. While waiting to see what happens next, viewers drawn to its slow, character-driven approach can explore other quietly compelling series. Strikingly, until there is an update, Ripple will continue to linger, reminding audiences why its story connected in the first place.
