Princess Diana’s ‘Ghost’ in ‘The Crown’ Season 6 Confirmed With Release Dates?

At a time when the British monarchy is passing through one of its most arduous
times, some flashbacks are about to take place. Netflix has had The Crown
[https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/the-crown/] long essay poignantly the life and
time of the late Queen Elizabeth II. After taking viewers through some of the
most profound moments of royal as well as world history in its fifth season, the
final one is setting the stage for the most befitting climax. The wars are over,
the Prime Ministers have changed, and now the lens befalls straight on a
personal level.

The latest season of Netflix’s fictional royal drama is about to touch on its
most sensitive topic yet. And, it has one big twist to it.

THE CROWN CREATOR BREAKS DOWN THE STORY BEHIND PRINCESS DIANA’S GHOST

In its latest post on Twitter, formerly known as X, Netflix confirmed the first
of season six of The Crown to land on November 16. Additionally, this season
will not only deal with the depiction of Princess Diana’s unfortunate passing
but also showcase her ‘ghost’. In essence, show creator, Peter Morgan, in talks
with Variety
[https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/the-crown-season-6-princess-diana-death-ghost-1235766510/],
added that the ghost would not be a superficial construct but rather a vision of
the late royal. Furthermore, after her death in the show, Princess Diana is set
to appear twice. Once in front of a mourning King Charles III and then before
Queen Elizabeth II.

“I never imagined it as Diana’s ‘ghost’ in the traditional sense,” Morgan added.
The Netflix adaptation would be looking at maintaining a fine balance in its
depiction, not veering away from history. The comments are important, as Prince
William has reportedly hinted in the past of being distressed by the portrayal
of her mother in the show. However, the show would provide the late Princess
“special treatment narratively.” Instead of plaguing it with themes beyond
reality, the storyline would stay grounded closer to reality.

Additionally, the announcement from Netflix comes at a time when the streaming
giant is cruising ahead with its deal with the estranged royals.

PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN MARKLE ARE STILL ON BOARD NETFLIX

In quest of being “financially independent,” Prince Harry
[https://www.netflixjunkie.com/tag/prince-harry/] and Meghan Markle
[https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/meghan-markle] signed big-ticket deals with
Spotify and Netflix shortly after landing in the US. However, the former fizzled
out owing to low appeal. While ties with the streaming giant also looked bleak,
a recent PR uptick has saved the day. The duo’s show of strength at the Invictus
Games has boosted their appeal

and their $100 million 5-year deal with Netflix still sails.

Meanwhile, with confirmed dates, excitement and hype for The Crown has
sky-rocketed. Amid gripping tensions in the royal family, a blast from the past
may be of massive interest to vested royal enthusiasts as well as long-time
viewers of the show. But as its non-fictional royal docuseries cum moneymaker
Harry & Meghan continues to still make waves, it is a win-win situation for the
OTT Mogul.
