The series is about the shocking real-life story of fraudster Caroline Ellison, the former crypto executive and romantic interest of the infamous FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried. They were convicted of fraud in 2023 in the bankruptcy of FTX. On the other hand, the novel is an all-fictitious tale by Andrew Ridker about a professor, Arthur Alter, and his attempts to recover his inheritance from his estranged children.

A dark yet funny family saga that explores themes of privilege, morality, and other things, the novel is a fictional cult in the Grand Theft Auto series. They revolve around money, but the two are not remotely related.
