The global phenomenon KPop Demon Hunters arrived rather quietly on Netflix, but it quickly grew into one of the platform’s loudest and most celebrated animated successes. The series dominated the Annie Awards, winning an impressive 10 awards, including Best Direction, Best Music, Best Writing, Best Editorial, Best Voice Acting (Arden Cho), Best FX, Best Character Animation, Best Character Design, and Best Production Design. And such a sweep also tells much about the show.

Now, several past recipients of the Annie Awards have gone on to win Oscars, including Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio. That history offers a slight hope for Kpop Demon Hunters to achieve similar success at the Academy Awards. The animated film is nominated for Best Original Song for ‘Golden’ and Best Animated Feature.
However, it faces competition from Zootopia 2 and Arco, the latter of which won Best Independent Feature. So, while Kpop Demon Hunters has quite a strong case, the competition remains fierce. But it surely has won the biggest award, which is the fans' love.
Even as the film continues to earn acclaim and honors, it was notably snubbed of BAFTA awards.
Why was Kpop Demon Hunters snubbed at BAFTA
The Oscar-nominated movie Kpop Demon Hunters has not only impressed people but has also received several awards. However, it was snubbed in one of the most important categories, and that is the BAFTA. As reported by the BBC, the movie did not meet specific eligibility requirements regarding UK theatrical exhibition and release timing.

BAFTA has strict rules, requiring films to have a proper commercial run in UK cinemas to be eligible. So despite massive love and honor, the show missed out on getting nominated at the BAFTAs. But still, Kpop Demon Hunters’ impressive run and fame have already placed it as a global animation powerhouse. Now, whether this love will translate at the Oscars event is something that remains to be seen.
