What did Jacob Romero reveal?
While talking to Deadline at the event, Jacob Romero was asked about the set pieces the fans should watch out for. In reply, he said that there are some important Easter eggs in the Drum Island arc. While he did not reveal or give any hint as to what they are, he advised fans to be watchful when the crew arrives on Drum Island.
He also mentioned that some "big animals" could not make the cut because of the special effects budget crunch. But he did praise their detailed work, the efforts that the art department has made to elevate the aesthetic value of each frame.
The Drum Island arc is where the team will recruit their next crewmate, Dr. Tony Tony Chopper. This storyline will explore the past life trauma of the character and navigate how Luffy convinces him to become his ship’s doctor.
Going back to the event, Romero was not the only one to tease new information about the upcoming season.
Update on the Zoro-Sanji rivalry
The same event saw Once Piece’s Sanji (Taz Skylar) giving Deadline an important update about the most-loved and very entertaining Zoro-Sanji rivalry. He said that there will be some moments in the upcoming season where the sparks of their rivalry will flare up. Although the first season touched upon this friendly fire, it will be further fleshed out in the second season.
He also mentions the mutual admiration and respect between him and Mackenyu, who plays Zoro, the flashes of which fans can expect to see in the show. Anyhow, the Zoro-Sanji rivalry is a recurring theme of the anime, one loved so passionately that its discussions have earned their own label on the internet.
