Roald Dahl’s adaptations, known for mixing children's stories with wild, almost grotesque imagination, is returning with yet another Netflix project. Netflix fully owns the Roald Dahl Story Company after a major acquisition in 2021, acquiring the exclusive rights to build out an universe of movies, animated features, and series based on his iconic literature. As of now, three major projects spanning six individual film segments have officially been released under the Netflix-Roald Dahl partnership. Now it is time for a fourth project. 

Nicola Coughlan, Naomi Scott, and Carmen Ejogo are among the stars of the project, and all three were recently spotted filming on set. 

What's On Netflix recently obtained some behind-the-scenes snaps of the cast of Netflix’s upcoming star-studded Roald Dahl series. The filming was being carried out at Station Square in the seaside town of Saltburn. Nicola Coughlan, with her big prosthetic baby bump, was seen standing next to Toby Jones.

Meanwhile, Naomi Scott was seen filming an action sequence and Michael Socha was chatting on set outside a café/bar location. Older snaps also show Carmen Ejogo hanging around the set. As per What's on Netflix, the series also stars Dominic West, Imelda Staunton, Clarke Peters, Josh Finan, and Christine Tremarco. Currently filming under the working title of Zoltar, this series will not be hitting the screens until mid-to-late 2027.

Before diving into the upcoming project, here is a look into the previous Netflix adaptations of Roald Dahl's work. 

Netflix’s formal acquisition of the Roald Dahl Story Company has led to a highly diverse rollout of projects. Starting with Matilda the Musical, which was adapted as a feature-length musical from the West End/Broadway stage show, starring Alisha Weir and Emma Thompson, the film became a massive holiday streaming hit. Then there is the universally acclaimed The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More.

The collection of four live-action short films, released in 2023, even went on to win the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. Then came The Twits, released in October 2025, which faced significant backlash from traditionalists for Americanizing the story. It is now to be seen how the fourth project will be received by Roald Dahl's fans.
