One Piece has always been the most cherished manga series among fans. But by adapting it into live action, Netflix gave it a new level of fame, allowing people around the globe to relish an irresistible adventure. On the first weekend, the series attracted the attention of viewers in 84 countries. People instantly fell in love with the Straw Hat Pirates, who set sail in search of coveted treasure. The compelling rhythms and beats filled fans with excitement and thrill for the adventure. However, making that iconic four-hour-long soundtrack was certainly not a piece of cake. Screenrant recently sat down with the music composers of One Piece to talk about the 4-hour-long-soundtrack. Sonya Belousova was one of the team and interestingly, she has also worked for Netflix’s, another amazing adaptation, The Witcher. During the conversation, the host asked her about the reason behind the expansive length of the track. In her response, she recalled the lesson fantasy drama taught her when she crafted music for it.

Belousova recounted the song from the series ‘The Song of the White Wolf’, which had two versions. But the team only included end credits version which had vocals and had to face backlash for it. “It’s the same piece of music, just the solo violin version. We’re still hearing that from the fans,” she added. So, learning from their previous mistake, the composers made the soundtrack longer, this time giving full satisfaction to fans.

However, it was not their original plan, and neither knew that the score would go this far.

In the same interview, the composers revealed when they started creating the soundtrack, it was less than half what came out. But the creators wanted to capture the essence of characters while rooting for the spirit of the manga series. They weaved the narrative through song and approached each character with its own distinctive music signature. So when the audience watches the show, they connect with melodies.

To create the show a musical landscape, the team brought a diverse mix of instruments and genres across the globe. So one thing led to another, and they wrapped up with four hours long song. Meanwhile, fans should tighten their seat belts for what new they will bring for the upcoming season that the streamer has confirmed.
