Dating shows have already tested romance through blind dates, isolated pods, and some seriously unconventional experiments. Now, Netflix is putting a different kind of transformation at the center of its next love story, following singles as they navigate dating after major weight loss. The series promises to explore not just romance but the complex relationship between identity, confidence, and the search for lasting love after a dramatic change.
Because when the body changes, the dating world can look completely different too.
Netflix’s Weight to Date puts love after major weight loss under the microscope
Netflix’s next dating series, currently carrying the working title Weight to Date, is casting singles over 18 who have undergone significant weight loss and are ready to return to the dating scene. Its casting call asks prospective contestants whether they are ready to find love after a major body change, while describing the project as an inspiring docuseries focused on individuals discovering what dating feels like after transforming their bodies. The series comes from The Intellectual Property Corporation, with Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, and Jeanne Begley attached as executive producers.

Rather than leaning into the high-concept mechanics of Love Is Blind, Weight to Date is expected to play more like a dating docuseries, potentially placing it closer to Love on the Spectrum in tone. The premise also arrives at a moment when conversations around major weight loss have intensified, particularly following the popularity of GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic and Wegovy. The show joins Netflix’s growing unscripted dating lineup, which already includes Love Is Blind, Temptation Island, Love on the Spectrum, Too Hot to Handle and Age of Attraction.
And just when Netflix’s 2026 lineup looks packed enough, the streamer is holding some of its biggest bombs for 2027.
Netflix’s biggest 2026 releases set the stage for a packed 2027
Netflix’s remaining 2026 movie slate is stacked with franchise returns, star-powered originals and high-profile animation. Enola Holmes 3 is expected later this year, with Millie Bobby Brown returning as the fan-favorite detective, while Brad Bird’s animated sci-fi noir Ray Gunn is set for December 18. The year will then close with The Adventures of Cliff Booth on December 23, bringing Brad Pitt’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood character back for a new adventure.

On the TV side, Netflix still has major franchise chapters waiting in the wings, including The Witcher Season 5, Outer Banks Season 5, and the final season of Emily in Paris. Bridgerton Season 4, One Piece Season 2, Beef Season 2 and The Gentlemen Season 2 are also part of the 2026 lineup, while Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 expands one of Netflix’s biggest universes. But the real blockbuster wave is being saved for 2027, with Wednesday Season 3, Bridgerton Season 5, WIT Studio’s new THE ONE PIECE, Ghostbusters: Night Shift, and Ginny & Georgia Season 3 all waiting in the wings.
However, Weight to Date could take Netflix’s dating-show obsession into surprisingly personal territory, where the biggest challenge is not simply finding a match, but figuring out how to date when everything about how someone sees themselves has changed.
Will Weight to Date become Netflix’s next dating-show obsession? Let us know in the comments.
