Last year, Netflix gave us an engaging crime drama, Untamed, set in the expanse of Yosemite National Park. The show, with its compelling mystery and picturesque scenery serving as the backdrop, became a huge hit among investigative thriller lovers. And Eric Bana’s performance as special agent Kyle Turner was the highlight of the show. But one thing that is undeniable is that the lawless terrain of Yosemite National Park was an important element in the show.

Now, Netflix has announced a second season of this 83% critically rated show, and this time the show will be set in a completely different place.

The setting will be the most significant difference in Untamed season 2. Leaving behind the mountains of Yosemite National Park, Kyle Turner will travel to one of Hawaii's national parks to take on a different challenge. This time, Turner will be investigating a death in the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, where the stakes will be much higher and the circumstances more daunting.

In an interview with Tudum, series co-creators Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith shared their excitement for the second installment and some information about what we might see in the next season.

"We're excited to explore the pristine landscapes and cultural identity of a very different national park, and find Turner in a new state of mind, outside the comfort of Yosemite." According to them, each park is unique in its own way, and through Turner’s journey, they now have an opportunity to explore an entirely new national park. 

But this is not the first national park Turner would be visiting after Yosemite National Park. As suggested by the creators, he has been to other parks in the one and a half years that have passed after leaving Yosemite. Nevertheless, this season, there is a new main character in the form of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.

Well, this was not the only information that Netflix dropped about the second season of the series.  

Without a doubt, Eric Bana will return as Kyle Turner, but it is still uncertain as to which other cast members from season 1 will make it to the second one. Since there is a change of setting and the story, there is a possibility that the entire cast will be different this time, except for Bana. It is anticipated that a broad ensemble of Polynesian and native Hawaiian performers might join as the season shifts to Hawaii.

Netflix has already announced the start of production in Hawaii, releasing pictures of the cast and staff in action. According to the streaming giant, a unique Hawaiian blessing ceremony occurred last week prior to the start of production. Bana, John Wells, Mark L. Smith, and Elle Smith were present, along with Matt Devahl from Warner Bros. Television and Adriana Nassar and Paola Franco from Netflix. 

It will be quite intriguing to see the brand-new chapter of Turner’s journey and his emotional state, which is still somewhat scarred from his son’s death years before the events of season 1. While the series leaves behind the mysterious location of Yosemite National Park, the adventure continues in another unforgiving landscape.
