Baseball's most cinematic tradition is returning, and this time one of the world's biggest streaming platforms is coming along for the ride. Years after the original Field of Dreams games captured the imagination of fans, the iconic Iowa setting is once again preparing to host a major MLB showcase.
The announcement also marks another step in Netflix's growing investment in live sports programming. As the streamer continues to expand beyond films and television, its latest sports venture brings together one of baseball's most recognizable events and two teams looking to make their mark on the national stage.
Phillies and Twins Head to the 'Field of Dreams'
Netflix announced that it will stream the Philadelphia Phillies vs. Minnesota Twins matchup live from the Field of Dreams site in Dyersville, Iowa, on August 13 at 7:30 PM ET. Special pre-game coverage is scheduled to begin one hour earlier, giving fans a closer look at the festivities surrounding one of baseball's most unique events.

The game will be the third official MLB at Field of Dreams event and the first since 2022. Previous editions featured the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox in 2021, followed by the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds in 2022. The 2026 contest will also be the first played at the renovated Iowa venue.
According to MLB, the game will be played at the newly constructed Field of Dreams venue built adjacent to the original movie site in Dyersville. The event marks the return of MLB's Field of Dreams showcase after a four-year absence, bringing regular-season baseball back to one of the sport's most recognizable locations.
What the game means for Netflix’s sports expansion
The broadcast is part of Netflix's broader agreement with Major League Baseball. Beginning in 2026, the streamer secured rights to several marquee MLB events, including Opening Night, the Home Run Derby, and the Field of Dreams game, signaling a deeper commitment to live sports programming.
