Expect to witness Ciri's most disturbing scene in The Witcher Season 4
The Witcher Season 4 has to tackle Ciri's tumultuous encounter with The Rats. And avid readers of the books would be wondering how Netflix would depict the utmost terrifying scene on screen that Ciri went through in the pages. According to Redanian Intelligence, the show will feature Kayleigh trying to assault Ciri (Freya Allan) and Mistle (Christelle Elwin) chasing him away, exactly like in Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, only with a little softened depiction.
In the show, akin to the source material, Mistle, after driving him off, would physically approach, inviting Ciri to spend the night with her, per the outlet. Ciri would be depicted in distress, trembling, and grudgingly agreeing. Meanwhile, following Mistle carrying out her own exploitative advance, they would become a couple until bounty hunter Leo Bonhart tears them apart. The key difference would be fewer gratuitous moments, while keeping the emotional and ethical essence intact, as the cast empathetically studied the characters' mental makeup.
The bold decision to keep Ciri's traumatic moment out in the open is a signal that the show and its cast can responsibly tread sensitive source materials.
Christelle Elwin's stance on Mistle's questionable choices
Christelle Elwin, who depicts Rats gang member, Mistle, in the Netflix series, evaluated her character's persona as that of a conflicted individual, someone who guards, takes what she wants, and leads with love despite being tormented. Speaking to Numero, Elwin said she "had to totally empathise with all of Mistle’s more questionable choices," as she believes that "the most helpful tool an actor can have" is empathy for their roles, not judgment.
