Studio WIT’s highly anticipated remake of the original One Piece, The One Piece, recently unveiled its first look at Monkey D. Luffy in a new Romance Dawn poster at the 2026 Annecy International Film Festival. Based on the manga by Eiichiro Oda, The One Piece will follow the story of Luffy and his crew in search of their life-long dream treasure to become the King of the Pirates. The original anime, which dates back to 1999, is famous across the globe because of its great world-building and fantastic characters.

Now, with the remake finally approaching its long-awaited debut, new details are beginning to paint a clear picture of Studio WIT's vision for the highly ambitious project. 

The Netflix remake of One Piece with Studio WIT, The One Piece, is officially set to premiere in February 2027. Fans finally got their first look at Monkey D. Luffy at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The first episode of the series was announced with a new poster for Romance Dawn. The art depicts the resurrected captain beginning his journey to become the King of the Pirates. 

This reveal comes more than two years after the project was first announced at Jump Festa 2024. The anime remake is being produced by the studio that is behind anime such as Attack on Titan, Spy X Family, and Vinland Saga. The series is directed by Masashi Koizuka and assisted by Hideaki Abe. The character designs and chief animation directors are Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda. 

Moreover, according to What’s On Netflix, the first season of the remake of The One Piece will have 7 episodes, which will culminate with the Baratie Arc, where Luffy meets Sanji. The total running time for the seven episodes will be 5 hours. It has also been confirmed that the whole East Blue Arc will be adapted in the remake, so more episodes will be released later.
