Netflix has joined forces with Donald Glover for a series adaptation of the popular battle royale game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). When it comes to turning the gaming world upside down, few titles match the sheer, chaotic survival frenzy of PUBG. Nearly a decade after dropping millions of players onto barren islands unequipped except for a frying pan, the legendary battle royale giant is officially leaping live-action television.

Even better, Netflix is pulling out all the stops by handing the keys of the franchise over to a true multi-hyphenate maestro. The streaming giant has tapped creative powerhouse Donald Glover to write, direct, and star in what promises to be one of the most talked-about adaptations on the streaming horizon.

Netflix is gearing up to bring the legendary battle royale juggernaut PUBG into the live-action realm, tapping creative powerhouse Donald Glover to spearhead the ambitious adaptation. Beyond stepping in front of the camera as the project's lead, Glover will team up with his brother and regular collaborator, Stephen Glover, to script and executive produce the series. 

Donald is also slated to sit in the director's chair, rounding out a production roster that includes Neon TV's Michael Schaefer, Gilga's Fam Udeorji, alongside Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee representing Krafton's entertainment wing, LV3H. Originally released by publisher Krafton back in 2017, the source material famously lacks a traditional narrative structure, instead tossing massive lobbies of players onto sprawling maps filled with scattered weapons and vehicles for an all-out survival free-for-all. 

Due to the fact that the game's blueprint is pure, unadulterated last-man-standing combat rather than scripted lore, specific plot details for the upcoming television adaptation remain strictly confidential.
