Before you settle in for another binge, you may want to check which series are about to disappear from Netflix, along with the movies.
Which series are leaving Netflix on September 1st?
The September 1 departures include five series, in a variety of genres and formats, giving subscribers plenty to binge before they are gone. The list includes a mix of licensed titles and a Netflix Original, with some departures boasting full multi-season runs. If you have been holding on to any of these shows for later, you might want to bump them up on your watch list, as the September 1 deadline means there is limited time left to stream them on the platform.

Black Lightning (Seasons 1-5)
Crashing (Season 1)
Oldsters (Season 1)
Orphan Black (Seasons 1-5)
The reason behind the sudden exits of these popular movies and series comes down to Netflix’s licensing agreements.
Why do shows and movies leave Netflix?
There are many reasons why shows leave Netflix, but one of the biggest reasons is licensing agreements. Netflix usually only licenses a show from another studio or network for a specific amount of time. When that deal expires, Netflix may remove the title if the two sides cannot reach an extension of the rights. Even popular shows are not guaranteed to stay, since the libraries on streaming services are always shifting due to licensing terms, availability, and business decisions. This is also the reason why you sometimes see known titles vanish after a limited run on the platform.

We are looking at a long list of movies and series leaving Netflix in September, just like many shows and movies left the service in August. So, subscribers might want to take a quick look at their watchlists before the titles go away. There is plenty to catch up on, from popular series to classic films and popular franchises to full seasons of familiar series between now and the removal dates. Titles might not be around forever, as Netflix’s library is subject to change due to licensing agreements.
So, if any of these titles are sitting on your watchlist, now might be the perfect time to press play before they are gone.
Will you be binge-watching these series and movies before they leave Netflix, or catching them elsewhere after their exit? Let us know in the comments.
