Some projects come with a weird fate attached to them; they do not receive the love they deserve right away. But somewhere down the line, the innate magic and the latent potential erupt and captivate the audience forever. However, a push is needed for this miracle to happen, and that push is sometimes provided by streaming services like Netflix. The streaming giant did something similar with the cancelled NBC sci-fi thriller in 2021. It not only helped the three-part series get its due, but also renewed it for a fourth and final season.

Now, after four years, Netflix is yet again set to surprise the fans of the show with a spin-off slated for 2027.

The NBC series talked about here is Manifest, which premiered in 2018 and was taken off the air in 2021 after a three-season run. Marking exactly five years since Netflix famously saved the beloved supernatural drama from its NBC cancellation, the streaming platform officially announced an expansion of the Manifest universe with a brand-new series titled Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery.

Unveiled on the iconic fan-celebrated date of August 28th (8/28), Netflix confirmed that the upcoming sci-fi extension will feature an entirely fresh ensemble cast and unexplored narrative arcs operating inside the same universe as the original global hit. Series creator Jeff Rake is slated to return as executive producer, co-creator, and co-showrunner, partnering with Manifest veterans Margaret Easley and Laura Putney.

According to What's On Netflix, production listings indicate that filming for the spin-off is scheduled to take place in Vancouver, British Columbia, running from January 19, 2027, through June 9, 2027. Although the exact episode count remains unannounced, each installment is slated for a roughly 60-minute runtime.

Even though curiosity is equally ablaze around every aspect of the new project, it is especially fierce around the storyline of the spin-off.

While introducing a brand-new roster of characters, Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery delivers the signature, addictive puzzle-box mystery that turned the original show into an international sensation. Netflix’s official logline describes the premise: when an unexplained plane crash-lands in Denver, the passengers wake up entirely amnesiac, stripped of any recollection of their identities, origins, or purpose. A young social worker and an inexperienced Homeland Security agent join forces with the newcomers to avert an apocalyptic catastrophe, uncovering along the way that they are all interconnected components of the very mystery they are trying to untangle.

Behind the scenes with Jeff Rake, Margaret Easley and Laura Putney, the executive producing roster features prominent industry heavyweights, including Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke representing Compari Entertainment, alongside Len Goldstein of Tall Baby Productions and Jacqueline Levine. There is no official release date attached to the spin-off as of now, but the show is supposed to land on Netflix in 2027.
