Netflix Releases First Trailer for ‘Lord of the Flies’ From Critically Acclaimed Creator Behind 'Adolescence'
William Golding’s Lord of the Flies has great significance in the literary world. Being a classic piece, it often finds its way into the academic curriculum of American schools to teach teenagers about the dark side of human nature, the frailty of civilization, and the perils of conformity. With such great influence on the populace, it only made sense to bring it to the screens for more and more people to connect with its lessons on the subjectivity of morality and the loss of social order, and there seems to be no better contender for it than Netflix.
Netflix, along with Adolescence's co-creator, has brought the beloved story of Lord of the Flies from pages to screen in the new trailer for the series by the same name.

The iconic story by William Golding takes the shape of a four-part series featuring the same dystopian world that the writer created, but adapted for the screen by Adolescence co-creator and Emmy-winner, Jack Thorne. Netflix has now released the trailer for Lord of the Flies, which will drop on the streamer on May 4, 2026.
The four-episode series centers on a group of English schoolboys who end up as castaways on a desert island. When left on their own, the kids try to deal with the horrifying circumstance in a civil manner, but eventually tribes develop, and a savage power struggle breaks out. A glimpse of this can be clearly seen in the official trailer for the show.
The trailer opens with a horrifying plane crash, and the boys are trapped on the island. Mayhem and brutality take over the children to survive on the island. The situation forces them to be at odds, calling each other failures and fearing that they are the next thing on the chopping block. Additionally, there are early glimpses of a large fire with children fighting and even pursuing one of the survivors.
In the trailer, the horror, the brutality, and the doom are pretty much present everywhere, and it is further enhanced by the balanced and amazing performances of the cast, featuring mostly young kids.
The Lord of the Flies has a bunch of young but promising actors
Netflix’s Lord of the Flies depicts the tale of young boys who, under the leadership of Ralph (Winston Sawyers) and with the help of Piggy (David McKenna), the group's intellectual, try to stay civil by banding together. But Jack (Lox Pratt) questions his authority and starts luring other lads away, leading them from optimism to catastrophe.

Ike Talbut plays Simon, alongside Sawyers, McKenna, and Pratt. In addition to a group of around thirty youngsters portraying the "biguns" and "littluns" of the desert island camp, Thomas Connor plays Roger, Noah, and Cassius Flemyng portrays twins Sam and Eric, Cornelius Brandreth as Maurice, and Tom Page-Turner as Bill. The trailer for the show, the rights to which Netflix acquired in February 2026, has given enough to be fired up about the four-parter.
