Rockstar Games has officially declared that the widely-renowned Red Dead Redemption and its equally famous Undead Nightmare standalone expansion will be coming to mobile devices through Netflix Games on December 2, 2025. It is the first time the original 2010 story set during the decline of the American frontier in 1911 will be delivered to phones.
A valid Netflix subscription entitles users to play the game for free, as it is included in Netflix's vast gaming library, making it one of the biggest and most coveted additions so far. Subscribers can pre-register for Red Dead Redemption, now available, to play the game for free with no ads or in-app purchases via the Netflix app once it is released in December. Netflix has kept the touch screens in mind, providing mobile gamers with intuitive controls that are specially tailored to smartphones, loading the narrative with scaled visuals for smaller screens, and a creepy twist.
Red Dead Redemption promises a more expansive world-building and evolved gameplay. But there is more.
What does Netflix's Red Dead Redemption have to offer?
In a rough and vast western scenario, Red Dead Redemption narrates John Marston’s story, a former bandit who is compelled by federal forces to lead them to the gang he once rode with while witnessing the decline of the Wild West. Marston wants to eliminate his bloody past, but that path is seldom smooth. Meanwhile, The Undead Nightmare expansion turns the story into a survival horror where Marston, already haunted by his past, faces a zombie apocalypse.

Both stories together provide not only one but two full cinematic single-player experiences, on iOS and Android; however, multiplayer is not included. With Netflix Games, Red Dead Redemption, which became a landmark for its cinematic storytelling, now comes with more fauna and flora, high plains, canyons, rivers, a revolutionary targeting system called Dead Eye, and stunning sunsets. This December, prepare to immerse in the game, which is no less than Netflix's own wide range of Western movies.
