The terribly true events that served as the basis of Radioactive Emergency
Back in 1987, in Goiânia, Brazil, two scrap metal scavengers, unaware of the risks it posed, took an teletherapy radiation unit from a closed hospital. They found a glowing blue substance as they disassembled it to sell as scrap metal, which they curiously shared with their loved ones. They had no idea that the material was actually Cesium-137, a highly radioactive chemical that made everyone who handled it sick.
When medical professionals looked into the strange disease that was plaguing the city, they discovered that radioactive waste was the root cause. In the midst of escalating tensions between residents and officials, who were all looking for someone to blame, experts from around the nation were summoned in to help solve the nuclear situation.
