It has been almost two and a half years since Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) partnered up with Netflix and entered into a milestone boxing and combat sports deal in November 2024. The initial boxing deal brought some of the biggest names in sports to the streaming platform, including the colossal Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight. The most recent venture both parties have embarked on together is the live performance of mixed martial arts, starting with the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano bout.

But the question is: has this deal between the two entities been fruitful at all?

The deal between Netflix and Jake Paul’s MVP has been highly successful, bringing in a record number of audiences to the platform and giving huge impetus to the streaming giant’s move into live combat sports. And this success is not some hearsay, as it is backed by solid numbers that are a testament to the popularity of the live streaming of these sports.

To start with, the biggest success that came out of this deal was the epic Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight in 2024, which generated 108 million global views and became the biggest global combat sports event ever streamed. This was not just because of Mike Tyson’s name attached to the fight, but partly due to MVP’s ability to drive massive platform engagement for Netflix.

The Tyson-Paul fight also pushed Netrix’s technological capabilities to the edge, hitting 65 million concurrent streams without crashing. The next big event came in 2025 when the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua fight got 33 million viewers who streamed the event live from across different countries.

Apart from generating views, the deal also accomplished something that benefited the fighters participating in the events, too.

Netflix-MVP deal altered the industry standards

Something good came out of the Netflix-MVP and not only for the parties involved but also for the athletes taking part in the fights. Eschewing the conventional MMA pay structure, the deal guaranteed an unusually high sum of $40,000 floor payout for every fighter on the card. This is a generous jump from the previous industry standard, which has now raised the bar.

The broad worldwide reach and constant online conversation are only expected to blow up further with the upcoming Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano fight on Netflix.
