The upcoming Monopoly project from Netflix has generated a lot of curiosity, but the streamer has yet to reveal any cast members, the reason being that it is a reality competition series. It is not a movie or a TV drama with a script, justifying Netflix Tudum's open call for auditions as well. Nevertheless, the executive producing team has been announced, which includes Gabriel Marano and Zachary Edwin for Hasbro Entertainment, and Nia Yemoh, Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, Stephen Lambert, and Kim Murphy for Studio Lambert.

A celebrity host, who is a staple of a traditional reality competition, might also become an addition that Netflix Tudum announces, though nothing is confirmed on that front. Additionally, no recognizable personality has been attached to the game. Netflix is currently focused on casting contestants rather than announcing the lineup.

The show will be about 12 players competing in a life-size Monopoly Town Square. In the series, contestants will go head-to-head in the high-stakes social strategy game. They will broker deals, acquire properties, forge alliances, and eliminate rivals until one player wins the grand prize.

What to expect from Netflix's Monopoly competition?

The show is produced by Studio Lambert in association with Hasbro Entertainment and will debut in 2027. As the competition continues, those contestants who cannot manage their assets or outwit their competitors will be eliminated by bankruptcy. The last player standing will win a $2 million grand prize. The series will combine the familiar gameplay of Monopoly with the social dynamics and competition that have become a signature element of modern reality television.

The show is scheduled to premiere in the fall and expands Netflix’s growing portfolio of unscripted adaptations based on popular entertainment properties. This is coming amid shows such as Wonka’s The Golden Ticket, which draws inspiration from Roald Dahl’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, showing how much Netflix loves to incorporate its brands in a big reality show.

With Monopoly set to premiere next year, anticipation continues to build, even as Netflix keeps key details under wraps. The streamer has yet to reveal its contestants, host, or additional production updates, leaving fans eager for the next announcement. By combining the strategy, negotiation, and rivalry of the classic board game with the tension of modern reality television, the series promises a fresh take on a global favorite.
