The trauma team is not hanging up its scrubs anytime soon, and Netflix knows a winning formula when it sees one. After winning viewers over with high-stakes emergencies, hilarious banter, and Dr. Baek Kang-hyuk’s gloriously fearless attitude, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call has officially secured Seasons 2 and 3. The streaming giant is keeping the hospital doors open for more medical mayhem.

Ju Ji-hoon’s brilliant, no-nonsense trauma surgeon and his hardworking team will return for two more seasons, bringing fresh life-or-death cases and the mentor-student dynamics fans cannot get enough of.

Netflix has officially renewed The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call for Seasons 2 and 3, with both seasons set to be produced simultaneously and filming scheduled to begin in October 2026. Director Lee Do-yun will return to helm both instalments, writing Season 2 himself and co-writing Season 3 with rising writer Tomasi. The renewal also brings a cast change.

The double renewal is hardly surprising given the medical drama’s extraordinary first-season performance. Released on January 24, 2025, the series dethroned Squid Game Season 2 to claim the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s global Non-English TV rankings just 10 days later. Its popularity stretched across 63 countries, turning Dr. Baek Kang-hyuk’s chaotic trauma unit into a worldwide hit.

Netflix announced that Ju Ji-hoon will reprise his role as the fearless surgeon Baek Kang-hyuk, alongside Choo Young-woo as Yang Jae-won, Yoon Kyung-ho as Han Yu-rim, and Jeong Jae-kwang as Park Gyeong-won. Jeong Ye-in, formerly a member of Lovelyz, is joining as veteran nurse Cheon Jang-mi, taking over the role previously played by Ha Young. With two seasons in production, the team has plenty more emergencies ahead.

Netflix is giving Korean entertainment plenty of room to run, whether it is Jennie's song starring in Steps or The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call preparing for Seasons 2 and 3, both of which promise plenty to unpack.

The mayhem that awaits The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call

The trauma unit barely had time to catch its breath in Season 1, and Dr. Baek Kang-hyuk already had enough hospital politics to rival his emergency cases. With Seasons 2 and 3 expanding the story, the team is expected to face larger disasters and mass-casualty emergencies, pushing its rescue skills beyond familiar hospital walls. The coming seasons could make every second count even more.

Another major development to watch is Dr. Yang Jae-won’s evolution from a hesitant trainee into an independent trauma surgeon capable of leading critical operations. Meanwhile, Dr. Han Yu-rim’s promotion to Chief of Planning and Coordination could give Baek Kang-hyuk a powerful ally against the hospital’s money-minded leadership. With nurse Cheon Jang-mi joining the team and the rescue helicopter opening the door to field missions, the next two seasons could bring mayhem on an entirely new scale.
