Netflix has teamed up with NASA once again to carry another live space broadcast. The streaming giant has been hunting for live events that make subscribers drop the remote and look up. Rockets, it turns out, are very good at that. The first round of cosmic programming left the platform with plenty of numbers to brag about, and those numbers convinced somebody in a meeting to ask for an encore.

While the first round pulled eyes to the Moon, the encore points every screen at a crew leaving Earth live.

Netflix will carry the SpaceX Crew-13 launch live

Netflix will stream the SpaceX Crew-13 launch live on Thursday, October 1, 2026, extending its partnership with NASA. Coverage begins at 7:00 PM IST, which is 13:30 UTC, ahead of the targeted liftoff. The feed comes straight from the official NASA broadcast, so live commentary and mission control check-ins will sit right beside the scripted dramas. Netflix carrying the feed does not change availability on the NASA website or YouTube.

The launch is NASA's 13th commercial crew rotation to the International Space Station, and a four-person team will run science experiments there through 2027. NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney serve as commander and pilot, while Joshua Kutryk of the Canadian Space Agency and Sergey Teteryatnikov of Roscosmos join them. The April 2026 Artemis II streams, the flyby, and the splashdown drew 3.8 million viewing hours across 600,000 views.

While the crew counts down to liftoff, Netflix has space documentaries to fill the wait.

Space documentaries on Netflix that make the wait for liftoff easier

Our Universe from 2022 is a six-part series narrated by Morgan Freeman, who makes a billion years sound like a casual Tuesday. It traces the formation of the universe and the solar system, then ties those events to life on Earth. Alien Worlds, a four-part series from 2020 narrated by Sophie Okonedo, builds imaginary ecosystems on exoplanets using real astronomy and evolutionary science. Each episode tackles a different planetary condition.

Black Holes: The Edge of All We Know follows the global effort to image a black hole for the first time. Return to Space, the closest cousin to Crew-13, documents SpaceX and NASA preparing crewed missions to the International Space Station with astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley. Challenger: The Final Flight, a four-part series, examines the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. The first NASA run worked well for Netflix, so a sequel is now on the launchpad.
