While 2026 has turned Netflix into a home for some seriously heavy titles, the streamer is also preparing to wave goodbye to a few gems along the way. One of them brings together Reacher powerhouse Alan Ritchson and two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank in a true story that trades action for raw emotion. And unfortunately, the clock is already ticking on its Netflix stay.

For anyone who missed this one the first time around, consider this the final call before one of Alan Ritchson’s most emotional performances disappears from the streamer.

Alan Ritchson and Hilary Swank’s ‘breathtaking’ drama, Ordinary Angels, is set to leave Netflix on July 24, 2026, giving subscribers only a few more weeks to catch the acclaimed true-story drama. Directed by Jon Gunn, the film follows Sharon Stevens, a Kentucky hairdresser battling her own personal struggles, who becomes determined to help Ed Schmitt, a widowed father drowning in medical debt as his five-year-old daughter desperately needs a life-saving liver transplant. What begins as one woman’s mission soon grows into a moving story of an entire community racing against time and nature to save a child.

Released theatrically in 2024, Ordinary Angels draws inspiration from Sharon Stevens Evans’ book of the same name and the real events surrounding the 1994 North American cold wave. Hilary Swank leads the film as Sharon, while Alan Ritchson steps away from his Reacher toughness to play grieving father Ed, with Nancy Travis, Tamala Jones, Skywalker Hughes, and Emily Mitchell rounding out the cast. Meg Tilly and Kelly Fremon Craig adapted the true story for the screen, turning an extraordinary community rescue into one of Ritchson’s most emotionally charged dramas.

And while Ordinary Angels is getting its eviction notice, Netflix clearly has no plans to let the watchlist breathe, with the rest of 2026 already lining up its replacements.

Netflix is replacing one goodbye with a seriously packed slate

Netflix has already enjoyed a busy first half of 2026, but apparently, that was only the opening act. With the year now entering its second half, the streamer still has plenty of franchise power, star-heavy films, and returning favorites waiting in its basket. Kevin Hart’s 72 Hours is set for July 24, while August will bring One Hundred Years of Solitude: Part Two, Alley Cats, and The Last House, ensuring the post-summer watchlist gets little chance to cool down.

The real flex, however, appears to be waiting for the final months of the year. Steps will lead the late-year charge in November, followed by David Fincher’s The Adventures of Cliff Booth, starring Brad Pitt, before the film reaches Netflix on December 23. December will also bring In Waves and Brad Bird’s Ray Gunn, while Greta Gerwig’s The Chronicles of Narnia remains one of the streamer’s biggest anticipated projects. With Lupin Season 4, Outer Banks Season 5, The Gentlemen Season 2, Black Doves, and The Hunting Wives also waiting in the wings, Netflix may be saying goodbye to Ordinary Angels, but its 2026 watchlist is certainly not running out of replacements.

And while Netflix may have plenty of shiny new titles waiting at the door, Ordinary Angels is packing its bags on July 24, making now the perfect time to catch Alan Ritchson’s “breathtaking” drama before the streamer pulls the plug.
