Continuing to raise the stakes, the platform now has a nation-shocking story turning into another onscreen adaptation in the pipeline. Given an unusual name, this new thriller is inspired by real events that shook the nation.

And for this project, Netflix has in its store some well-acclaimed top names from Hollywood of all ages who are known for their solid performances on big and small screens.

The movie will revolve around the life of the infamous Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski. Netflix is expanding its horizons and is poised to bring on top names from the industry with impressive portfolios, according to What's on Netflix. The movie will star Russell Crowe, Shailene Woodley, Annabelle Wallis, and Jacob Tremblay. With this project, Crowe will make his Netflix debut and portray Professor Henry Murray, the Harvard psychologist known for conducting controversial experiments on Kaczynski.

Though the lady stars are well acquainted with Netflix, as Shailene Woodley starred in the platform’s The Last Letter from Your Lover and To Catch a Killer. On the other hand, the Peaky Blinders fame, Annabelle Wallis has worked on Netflix’s Septimo. Meanwhile, Jacob Tremblay has reached fame with My Father’s Dragon and Orion in the Dark from the streaming platform, too. Now this ensemble is coming together to tell the shocking tale.

The upcoming movie directed by Janus Metz is all about domestic terrorist Ted Kaczynski and his illegal actions that caused terror.

What is Netflix's Unabom about?

The movie will follow Ted Kaczynski’s life-changing transformation from a brilliant Harvard student to an Unabomber, responsible for a national-level bombing campaign in the United States from 1978 to 1995. His actions resulted in the decease of three people and injured 23. Unabomb will “bring to light the chilling consequences of ambition and isolation,” as per Netflix’s description. The award-winning Danish filmmaker, Janus Metz will be working on the story written by Sam Chalsen & Nelson Greaves.

Producing through 2.0 Entertainment is Sophie Cassidy, and along with her, Don Lee, Chalsen, and Greaves serve as executive producers. Production is expected to begin soon, and currently, there is no word about a release date. But with such a talented cast helming the gripping thriller, Unabom is already turning out to be one of Netflix’s more ambitious true-crime projects.
