Set to arrive on screens in 2027 following an active production schedule, Maria Dąbrowska’s enduring literary milestone Nights and Days is being reimagined as a prestige Netflix Original series. Headlining the sprawling family saga are Tomasz Schuchardt and Jaśmina Polak, per What’s On Netflix.
Behind the camera, Kamila Tarabura is steering the project as director and co-writer, collaborating on the script alongside Marta Bacewicz and Katarzyna Tybinka. On the production front, Justyna Pawlak is spearheading the adaptation through her Greenlight Films banner.
This ambitious project introduces Dąbrowska’s legendary four-part chronicle to modern audiences. It marks the first major screen interpretation of the classic text in roughly half a century since its iconic 1970s film and television iterations.

Sharing her vision for the project (via What’s On Netflix) , director Tarabura described the upcoming series as an honest and emotional exploration of the myths surrounding romantic love, alongside the perpetual tug-of-war between personal expectations and harsh reality. She noted that the narrative serves as a meditation on the labor required to sustain a long-term partnership, highlighting how dedication to a relationship can yield rewards over a lifetime.
The announcement also comes with an official synopsis for the new Polish period drama from Netflix.
The plot of Nights and Days
Set during an era when Poland was absent from European maps, the story of Nights and Days follows Barbara Ostrzeńska, a proud yet destitute noblewoman who discovers that her first love has wed someone else. Eager to avoid a life of spinsterhood, she enters into a marriage with Bogumił Niechcic, a humble former insurgent and estate manager whose inner peace and professional dedication stand in stark contrast to her own restless spirit.
Spanning three decades in the picturesque countryside, the narrative traces their life together as Barbara's persistent longing for bygone social status and grand romance constantly locks horns with everyday life.
