Netflix Fixes 'Stranger Things' Major Slip-Up Before Finale Premiere
Stranger Things' final season has inevitably drawn not-so-favorable Game of Thrones comparisons, especially from critics who found inescapable flaws in it. A small, unexpected yet similar glitch in Volume 2 has been widely examined among eagle-eyed viewers, disturbing the general excitement for the show ahead of the finale.
Since its debut in 2016, Stranger Things has become a cultural giant, amassing millions of fans and turning into Netflix's sci-fi crown jewel. Naturally, the streamer could not just sit back and let the memes prevail.

Netflix rescues Stranger Things from a blunder ahead of grand finale
Netflix has discreetly fixed a continuity mistake in Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 2, after fans noticed an anachronistic detail concerning Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher). After the incident became a topic of discussion on social networks, Netflix digitally removed the logo from her shirt in the scene.
In the seventh episode titled The Bridge, Wheeler is briefly seen wearing a shirt with the Under Armour logo, a brand that did not exist in 1987, which is the time frame of the show. The company was established in 1996, nine years after the setting of the story, thus giving the logo on Wheeler’s thermal undershirt a quite obvious continuity slip.
Viewers who are going to watch the episode now will not face the anachronism when Holly breaks through Vecna's pod, because the streamer has already edited it. Hawkins takes pride in preserving the 1980s nostalgia, with attention to minute details such as vibrant mall posters, vintage arcade games, cassette tapes, and even Eggo waffles.
However, the Episode 7 fumble took viewers back to the Starbucks coffee cup placement on a grand feast table in front of Daenerys Targaryen in Season 8, Episode 4 of Game of Thrones. Akin to Netflix, HBO also had to step in to make essential edits to the error. Netflix's correction of the continuity came just in time before the series final episode, The Rightside Up, out on Netflix on New Year's Eve.
With the finale just around the corner, the only proper way to celebrate New Year's Day is to run to the theaters.
How to watch the Stranger Things 5 finale?
Stranger Things' fifth season finale streams simultaneously on Netflix and in selected cinemas in the US and Canada on December 31, 2025, at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET. With over 3,500 showtimes in more than 620 theaters, which are already sold out, the limited theatrical release is already achieving record sales.
The sci-fi epic's co-creator Ross Duffer celebrated the 1.1 million ticket sales for the finale on Instagram by gushing over the incredible fan response to bidding farewell to their decade-long Hawkins journey together. Duffer also added that he would be attending a few Los Angeles screenings himself.

According to Deadline, the admissions for the Stranger Things 5 finale surpassed KPop Demon Hunters' 700K pre-sales and only lagged behind that of Demon Slayer…Infinity Castle, which had 1.7 million admissions. While the animated epics had a theatrical window of two to three days, Netflix's sci-fi epic has just over one day to spend on the silver screen.
Theaters might already be full, but for those watching from home, the episode will be live on Netflix in all regions, with the local time zone determining the rollout times in January 1, 2026.
