Netflix has spent the better part of the last decade proving that adult animation can be as ambitious, strange, and culturally resonant as any prestige drama. From the melancholic brilliance of BoJack Horseman and the hormone-fueled chaos of Big Mouth to newer standouts such as Blue Eye Samurai, Arcane, and Captain Fall, the streamer has consistently marked a bold storytelling rather than a niche genre. Now, Netflix is adding another intriguing title to that growing roster with Dealies.

There is also something fascinatingly mysterious about the project. The early details hint at bizarre happenings and unconventional characters, but the show is keeping many of its secrets locked behind the automatic doors of its supernatural storefront.

Dealies is an upcoming adult animated workplace comedy ordered by Netflix. The series comes from Joe Bennett and Ted Travelstead, two creators whose recent work has earned significant praise among animation enthusiasts. Bennett is best known for the Emmy-winning science fiction marvel Scavengers Reign and the acclaimed animated thriller Common Side Effects, projects celebrated for their imaginative worldbuilding and unconventional storytelling.

The project also represents another chapter in Netflix's long-running relationship with animation powerhouse Titmouse. Back in 2020, Netflix signed a multi-year production commitment with the award-winning studio, securing multiple original adult animated series and gaining first-look rights on future adult animation projects developed by Titmouse.  That partnership has helped shape a significant portion of Netflix's adult animation identity.

The larger question surrounding Dealies is what new perspective it will bring to the increasingly crowded adult animation landscape. A supernatural retail comedy may sound unconventional, but that is precisely why it stands out.

What we know about Dealies so far

Dealies is officially slated for release in 2027. The series centers on a diverse and mystical collection of employees working inside a supernatural big-box store known as DEALIES. The crew itself sounds delightfully eccentric. Among the staff are a savant salesman, a gentle gladiator, a quiet virtuoso, a summoner of the divine, and an exhausted manager who somehow decided hiring all of them was a good idea.

According to the official synopsis, these workers are "masters of the delicate alchemy of trade, prophets of enterprise and, occasionally, workers who do some actual work."

The premise follows the chaotic employees as they navigate the strange occurrences that unfold within the store's walls. If Superstore examined the realities of retail life through grounded comedy, Dealies appears poised to explore those same frustrations through a lens of supernatural madness. The result could be one of Netflix's most distinctive animated projects in years, particularly given the creative team's track record for building strange yet compelling worlds.

Netflix's adult animation slate continues to evolve, and Dealies looks positioned to become one of its most intriguing additions. With accomplished creators, a proven animation partner in Titmouse, and a premise that blends workplace comedy with supernatural chaos, the series already has the ingredients for something memorable.
