Netflix Confirms ‘Family Pack’ Sequel: New Setting, New Cast, Same Werewolf Chaos
The idea of a man transforming into a wolf under the full moon has been explored several times on the screen. But what if that same idea was set in a family-comedy backdrop and was just added with a touch of time-travel, what would this crazy concoction result in? Well, the 2024 French movie Family Pack (Loups-Garous) answered this very same question.
The movie adaptation based on the popular tabletop game The Warewolves of Thiercelieux had a very Jumaji-esque plot that saw a modern family transported back to medieval times, and to get back to their timeline, they must find werewolves. The movie was well-received upon its release, being appreciated for its goofy humor and family fun.
Riding on the wave of its decent success, the movie has inspired a sequel after almost two years, which will be presented in a new setting and with a new cast.

A new family in a new timeline, but the mission remains the same
In March 2026, Netflix gave the go-ahead to Family Pack 2: Renaissance, a follow-up to the 2024 French fantasy-comedy Family Pack. It officially began production as of April 7, as per What's On Netflix, and details regarding its plot and cast are already out. In March 2026, Netflix decided to incorporate the announcement into a comprehensive interview in the paywalled Ouest-France.
The story of the sequel will see the werewolf game and its players advance into the year 1515 thanks to the sequel. Family Pack 2: Renaissance transports the protagonists from the original film's 1497 setting to the French Renaissance, during King François I's reign. Pauline Dauvin, Vice President of Netflix France in charge of local original programming, confirmed the sequel and disclosed that the original actors will not be returning in the exclusive interview with Ouest-France.
“No, the cast will be completely new, very event-driven, and composed of top-tier French talents of very high notoriety,” she stated in the interview.
Having kick-started in April 2026, filming will likely continue for a few more weeks, probably until the beginning of summer. A late 2026 release date is quite doubtful due to the intensive post-production and visual effects needed for the fantasy environment. The earliest possible release for Family Pack 2: Renaissance seems to be around the beginning of 2027.
Since we already know that the sequel features a fresh cast, all of whom would be French stalwarts, curiosity whets as to who these bigwigs are going to be.
The cast of the Family Pack 2: Renaissance revealed
Some of the most recognizable names in the film industry, like Jamel Debbouze and Monica Bellucci, who earlier appeared in Call My Agent! on Netflix, will be part of the main cast. It is another major grab for Netflix's French division, following fellow superstars Dany Boon and Gad Elmaleh. The cast also includes Fred Testot, a highly sought-after comedian and dramatist who is best known to the French audience for his role as comic team Omar & Fred alongside Omar Sy in the early 2000s.

The support cast also includes Alexandra Roth (French Lover) and Alice Dufour, who also lead the TF1 period series Montmartre. Nevertheless, there are some more castings yet to make, and that will also be finalized soon. The preparations for the sequel seem almost complete, and the production is also underway. The only thing that remains is the wait for the announcement of an official release date.
