And it reportedly spent four weeks in Nielsen’s U.S. charts. However, there was reportedly a drop in viewership for Seasons 4 and 5. While the exact reason for the cancellation remains unknown, the decline in viewership could have been a factor in the decision. The series was a heartwarming story following lifelong best friends Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue as they faced life’s trials and tribulations, as well as its joys.

The wholesome friendship between the characters and their support for one another throughout all the seasons of the show made it an inspiring watch. It starred JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley. And the show was helmed by showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson.

Along with the heartbreaking news of Sweet Magnolias’ cancellation, it has been revealed that some of the show’s members will return with a new series. Sheryl J. Anderson is set to helm a new show titled Ladies of the House as the showrunner. Kate Gordon and JoAnna Garcia Swisher are set to executive produce, while the latter may also star in the series.

The new show will be loosely based on a novel by Lauren Edmondson. It will follow a winery owner who passes away, leaving his wife and two daughters to deal with their grief. The series will focus on the three women as they support each other through the difficult time, with wine and love accompanying them along the way. More details about the show are yet to be revealed.
