Netflix Announces Global Release Schedule of Moriah Wilson Documentary Following SXSW Premiere
The sole purpose of making a documentary is to bring to light something urgent, something inspiring, and something the people should know. Documentaries are rooted deep into realism as they are an exploration of real events that changed something in society. They are thought-provoking and, beyond doubt, more than just a medium of entertainment. And sometimes they are just based on real-life stories that are a real tear-jerker.
Netflix is set to bring a very gut-wrenchingly inspiring documentary on pro cyclist Moriah Wilson following its SXSW run.

The Truth and Tragedy of Moriah Wilson will debut globally on Netflix on April 3, 2026, following its festival run, which included a premiere in the Documentary Spotlight category at the 2026 SXSW Film & TV Festival. The documentary takes viewers through the inspiring journey of North American off-road cycling star Moriah Wilson and will examine the tragic aftermath of her 2022 murder.
Well, the documentary was supposed to be good when it had such an accomplished creative team behind it. The 95-minute documentary is produced by Unreasonable Studios and Academy Award-winner Evan Hayes. The documentary film is directed by Emmy Award-winning director Marina Zenovich, the same creator behind the award-winning documentaries like Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired, ESPN's Lance, I'm Chevy Chase, and You're Not.
While Ayesha Rokadia, Justin Barocas, P.G. Morgan, and Zenovich are among the executive producers, Ben Bloodwell is responsible for the film's cinematography. Greg Finton and Poppy Das did the editing, and renowned composer Marco Beltrami wrote the original score. A really capable team, and the result is already winning high praise at the 2026 SXSW Film & TV Festival.
While the team deserves much credit, it was the story that pulled on people’s heartstrings with its deeply vivid and evocative appeal.
The Truth and Tragedy of Moriah Wilson’s life

Her death became the focus of a widely publicized investigation in May 2022. The hunt for the culprit and the ensuing legal proceedings were covered by the media. But the documentary never lingers on that too much. Instead, the documentary delves further than what is known about the case.

Wilson's family, friends, and coworkers' experiences are used by the filmmakers to construct the narrative. Her life and the aftermath of the crime that ended it are both put into context by their words and interpretations. The story tries to steer the audience around memory, grief, and how individuals react to loss. Just like many other documentaries on Netflix, this one is also profound and insightful, which makes it a terrific addition to the streamer.
