Courtney A. Kemp has plans in mind for Season 2 of her addictive show, Nemesis, on Netflix. However, despite some clear instructions from the streaming giant for a definitive ending, Season 1 concluded on a very different note. While many creators, like Kemp, hope for season 2, Netflix seems to have been trying to avoid ambiguous endings in case the show gets cancelled, which happens quite often.

However, Kemp has already proven her creative strength with hit shows like Power. But will Nemesis be able to see the same success and secure a second season? Kemp, for her part, ensured an explosive ending in an effort to boost the show’s chances of season 2.

The hit show Nemesis follows LAPD detective Isaiah Stiles as he chases criminal mastermind and thief Coltrane Wilder. The series ends with the detective letting his nemesis escape after going through much chaos and danger in his pursuit. Creator Courtney A. Kemp chose this ending because it was part of the team’s original vision, and they decided to stick with it despite Netflix’s instructions.

“Netflix asked us to wrap it in a place where you wouldn’t need a second season, and I was like, ‘Bet, we’re not doing that,’” Kemp told The Hollywood Reporter.

She further added, “But we knew that we did not want Coltrane to get caught. We didn’t want it to feel like you did all this for nothing, in a sense.”

While the show has not been renewed for another season yet, it is already pulling in impressive numbers. Nemesis, which holds a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is trending in more than 80 countries, and it sits in second place behind Berlin and The Lady with an Ermine. Moreover, Kemp, in an Instagram Live via Primetimer, revealed that they already have a season 2 blueprint for the show.

So, there is more to the story of Coltrane Wilder, who was able to escape in season 1 of the show.

Courtney A. Kemp hints at a potential storyline for Nemesis season 2

Courtney A. Kemp, who has already said she has ideas for a third season of Nemesis, did not reveal many details but hinted at what fans could expect if season 2 happens. She explained that the story would move forward with Coltrane trying to reunite with his pregnant wife, though it will not be an easy journey. More chaos can be expected, especially for Stiles, who lost so much during the course of the show’s eight thrilling episodes.

“I think we have made it pretty clear that there are some more consequences coming for Stiles,” Kemp told The Hollywood Reporter.

“And I think we have definitely ended the season where Coltrane’s gonna have to go find his wife. And that’s pretty much all I can say.”
