Netflix’s critically acclaimed true-crime anthology returns on September 17, 2026 with Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, coming to the platform worldwide. Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s creation is a limited series of eight episodes and will be released all at once so that you can binge the entire season in one day. This binge-release format continues the streaming strategy that was used for previous installments in the franchise. 

Netflix quietly renewed Monster for a fourth season focusing on the infamous Lizzie Borden murders and continuing the anthology's exploration of notorious true crime cases. The film was shot from September 2025 to March 2026 under the working title Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story.

Ella Beatty portrays Lizzie Borden, the woman at the center of the infamous 1892 axe murder case.

Charlie Hunnam portrays Andrew Borden, Lizzie's wealthy father.

Rebecca Hall plays Abby Borden, Lizzie's stepmother.

Vicky Krieps has been cast as Bridget Sullivan, the Borden family's live-in maid.

Billie Lourd will appear as Emma Borden, Lizzie's older sister.

Jessica Barden has been cast as Nance O'Neil, an actress and close friend of Lizzie.

Joey Pollari will appear in an undisclosed supporting role.
